I may seem like I talk a lot in class but I really only feel close to like, 4 or 5 people from school, one or two from each of my zoom classes. And daniel hernandez is one of the very few that I actually feel like is an actual friend. We started following each other on Insta, and I’m not exactly sure who started the conversation. But I’m so glad it sparked because Daniel makes school so much less intimidating, and I appreciate that so much as a freshman in the first semester.

I would say we are very casual friends, and I know we’d be a lot closer if I wasn’t 2.5 hours away in Bakersfield. This week, we were partners for our art project: basically getting to know one another. We exchanged phone numbers and texted throughout the week, and we also used Snapchat to capture moments of our day. We also exchanged playlists with each other; he made me a personalized list of tracks, and I sent him one of my favorite collections. During a FaceTime call, I learned a lot more about him and I understood the life of Daniel a little bit more.

I liked making the Padlet board for Daniel, it was like I was making a Pinterest board of him, with all the photos and captions and emojis. I was able to make the page with enough comedic touches in order to not make it awkward, and I am very happy with the outcome. I think in the future, I will make Pinterest boards for my friends. The collection of pictures is easy enough to conjure and organize in the way you want, all while being personal enough with specific detailed content. I really liked this project, even if it felt a little goofy and performative at times. I feel a lot closer to Daniel and I can’t wait to be on campus so that we can meet and be wild together in person.
